How To Address Too Much Moisture

When using a moisture meter, how do you address exterior house trim that has too high of a moisture content to paint ?

The house I am painting now has some trim at ground level that when probed with a moisture meter is WAY to moist to paint. The doors that this trim goes around I plan to unhinge and let dry out in the sun. For the remaining door trim I plan to talk to the owners and tell them it must be replaced because it is unpaintable.

If, after a week of sun (three days if it's full sun no shade at all), it's still too wet to paint, they have other issues
They'll need to take care of those issues, other-wise most coatings will just come off anyway

The trim I was referring to is on the north side of the house, so it never sees direct sunlight. It is also at ground level it a semi-enclosed area that is good for trapping moisture.

Just don't let your girlfriend use it on her hair
It will melt her head
