Hoosier Permanent Coating Co

Has anyone heard of this company in Indy? What about their product..."Hoosier Permanent Coating is a special elastomeric-urethane with a high grade titanium dioxide..."

Pros or Cons with this product. I have heard they are a 2-2.5million dollar installation company.

Is that one of those "never paint again" coatings for residential houses? I checked one out one time, it sealed under the clapboards......thats a no no to me?!

yeah, I saw a sample on some alligatored wood, but see when you paint over old paint, the weight of that coating can actually pull off the old paint because the original paints resins have dried up. Plus the underclapboard being sealed scares me. No ventalation.

Regal is right about pulling off the old coatings. I liken this to women that put on that skin stuff that tightens your skin - you can feel first hand how a 'topcoat' of paint will exert a tremedous shearing force to the underlaying older paint. But most new paints these days are strong in this way - even ben moore low lustre - will shear older layers of paint right off, in a way scrapers could never do.

But getting back to those permanent paint jobs - they flooded the markets in the 70's - and the houses didn't breath - and ended up peeling off in sheets right off the home! You can make a layer of paint so strong - that it's even stronger than the wood itself! And end up tearing a thin laminate of wood off as well. Just another scam to homeowners - although in my opinion, greedy homeowners that want to give us honest contractors the thumb. Honest homeowners will stick to contractors that offer quality services with quality products that do an honest job - not scam companies that declare bankruptcy every 5 years.

I work for one of those companies. The site they use is www.ihatepaint.com We have been spraying for them for 4 years. We do about 45 houses a year. This year they paid us well over $100k in business. They have 15 crews, but we are the biggest they use. I don't agree with all of the hype that they sling, but the work is never ending.

Looks awesome when firt applied. We were contatcted by another company that does the same thing. They sent us to look at houses they wanted done, the money they offered was to low.

If ya can make a buck doing it, go fo it.

Beware of Hoosier Permanent

We were a subcontractor on one of their jobs. They did bad preparation work and we could not complete the job without making multiple trips. We were not impressed with their job foreman. We will not work for Hoosier Permanent Coating ever again!
