You can use an extension ladder, just make sure you have boots or rubber feet on the bottom, and if you think their is any possibility of your ladder slipping out on your lino, have someone foot the ladder while you are cutting in. I would also recommend putting ladder mitts or wrapping foam rubber and taping to top of ladder to prevent sliding and or damage to drywall. Get yourself a pot hook to hold your cut pot to your ladder while cutting in. Just be carefull to make absolutly sure that the ladder wont slide on your floor. Best of luck.

once i was up cutting a 17 ft ceiling line and the ladder slipped about 6"...yiks...had to force myself to go back up there....i have been using a bathroom mat with the non-slip backing on it under my ladder feet and it seems to hold the ladder in place well. good luck
