Graco

Ok first I know you pro painters have real nice high dollar spray rigs. But in my Remolding I don't do a lot of painting or at least not as much as you guys do. But I am tired of brushing and rolling, so I was going to get a Graco Magnum series. you guys probably say junk. But for a small paint jobs which one of this Home Depot Seris is the best for me,

Re: Graco

You're right for 300 gal of paint or so you can't beat it. What happens is it will get tired and start to finger on the larger tip sizes which is unacceptable on high end paint jobs. I had one as a spare and came in handy for closets, shutters, g doors, etc. Mike in Moab

Re: Graco

Please do yourself a big favor and never buy equipment like this from a big box store.

Name brands are forced to rebuild their products to lower specs to let the box store get to be low price leader and still get bigger profits.

Check with your paint subs / they may be ready to trade up or know where you can get a well maintained used rig.

Re: Graco

Sorry to be so bothersome. But which one of the Magum seris would you recommend then.

Re: Graco

Sounds like your mind is all made up on this BigBob. I guess i would recommend the xr7 or the xr9.
Now for the 3-5 hundred you are planning on spending i would look into a paint sprayer service shop and see if they have any rebuilds for sale. You can pick up a great titan 440i rebuilt for that. Just something to think about.

I agree. I picked up one of our sprayers a couple weeks ago at a service center, and he said a lot of times the guys never even go back and pick the old ones up- they go out and buy another rig. Don't waste your money on the Magnums, I had 2, both used occasionally, both had to be rebuilt in a year after being stored.
Junk.

Re: Graco

I've got an xr-9.
It was a return, at HD, for $300.
Someone probably painted their house, and took it back.

Very lite duty.
...but will run off a 15a circuit, or a long drop cord.

It HAS paid for itself.
If it burned up now, I would still be ahead a 50ft hose and good gun w rac tip.

...Mine DID quit ! The pressure regulator is defunct. $65 for a new one.
I'd like to buy a Titan 440i for backup against my main pump, but $750 is a lot harder to spend than the $65. Think I'll fix it this time, and toss it next.

xr9 is great for staining fences and light - bodied interior products.
Most everything else must be thinned which really destroys the integrity of a quality product.

Re: Graco

The 190 would be a better choice, still light on the gpms, i think its like .35 gpms or something like that, but it is a good sprayer. That was my first sprayer, and it payed for its self many times, after a year or so i moved up to a 495.
