Gel Stain Door Debate

I am gel staining my front door. My wife and I are having a debate over how it should be done. I would like to stain the door, and side lights. THen leave the white strips that are on either side of the door white. She wants those strips to be stained. I guess i could sand them down and stain them? I really think the white frames the door out though. We both agree that the trim around the whole door should be left white. Its crazy, we've built the whole house with no disagreements. Now that it is time to paint we are having tons!!! So, settle this for me. WHat do you think? I've seen it both ways.

O Prefer all the trim stained or all of it white.. To just stain the stripes and leave the outside trim white seems off to me...

I think the white strips make the door pop and match the window trim.
This might help.

Def stain the door and sidelight, all trim (vert and horizontal) to remain white.

Re: Gel Stain Door Debate

This has been such a debate. Last night I stained on vertical trim and left one white. I asked every person that drove/walked by. It was 50/50. The stained does look nice. However, it makes the door look like a big dark hole on the front of the house. The white seems to make the arched door stand out more. Anyone else. Going to finish it tomorrow after work.

We just installed a door like that last week. We gel stained the door and the two sidelight panels. The door mullions (white sections) we painted white. As far as I am concerned, they should never be stained. They are part of the door frame, which is white.

Hmmm, wife wants - wife gets
Personally I would try settling on the sidelights & all trim white
