I stripped down 2 garage doors to the base wood, applied plastic wood on some places that were cracked and weathered, applied a primer to the doors (oil based) then a top coat (oil based). After 1 year the paint has peeled where the plastic wood was applied ( mainly the plywood panels and joints of the frames). What are your suggestions for paint, and should I strip it down again or just sand the flaking areas. The doors do get the hot sun for most of the day during the summer.

Sand it down and repaint.

Unfortunately, you will have this problem every year due to contraction and expansion.
