Look for a smaller GC or builder, one just getting started, or doing a one at a time schedule. Talk to them and get your name out that you are looking to get started....you might be surprised...smaller contractors are much more flexible, and probably have a sub they want to use, but may not be available. You want your name there when the job needs done. Good luck.

drive a real cheap vehicle, look kinda sloppy, charge about $20 per hour, but do really good work and you'll have all the builder syou want. Just kidding, just keep doing your thing, they'll come. if need be open up the phone book and call them all, thats how i started.

Yeah, I've got letters out with price lists to the few I want to work with. Have heard back from one so far that wants me to do his work, but I knew him from 'way back anyway.

I agree with everybody else, get your name out there and cross your fingers.

With interest rates going up constantly and home sales slowing quickly, you may want to rethink your strategy....
