Ever Do White On White For An Entire House?

Just gave a quote for an entire house.

Then it dawned on me, I asked the guy you don't want me to just do white over you white do ya?

He thinks the whole things been smoke stained. But the color is very constant, (never seen smoke stain before), and there is no smoke smell. If anything I think its a darker white (not even that dark), and someone redid the kitchen before they moved in with a lighter white.

He doesn't want color cause he wants to make it into a rent house. And we are going from a SG or Gloss to a eggshell.

I kind feel bad, I mean I shouldn't complain cause work is work right?

If it's a rental repaint the same color will go fast you should be able to knock that out in a few hours. Fresh white will clean the place up for renters. I like those kind of jobs.

The easiest paint job we ever did was this house that wanted semigloss over semigloss on every wall ceiling and piece of trim! The same color and the same sheen over the exact same color that was done 10 years earlier. 1500 sq feet done in one day $ 900 labor $200 paint $140 = $560 profit in one day!!!!!!

Sounds like easy money, boring as hell, but easy... It's like giving your brain and skills a little holiday...

I actually paid a handyman to do just this when I sold my first home... I'm pretty easy on my own residences, but had rented one room out that had gotten kinda grubby. Just figured I'd keep all the walls the same as when I moved in, for the sale.

Don't do it for the long haul. Latex paints will not stick to tobacco tar.

i think white/white isn't such a great idea. you should steer him to go for swiss coffe or navajo coffee. off white such as SC or NW hides surface flaws better.

my two cents
