Estimating Kitchen Cabinets-help!

hi guys, i did an estimate today for a LARGE kitchen full of cabinets.
she wants it in oil base or SW duration-my favorite.
no insides, just both sides of the doors and face.
i guess it will take me 4-5 days to complete.
i dont have a clue what to bid. oh, and she's perticular and rich.
she said one painters estimate would require her to take out a loan!
someone help me at least land one onto the green!

Already painted or stained with varnish? Banged up or in good condition? Handles being replaced? Can you take the doors home with you for a day?

A good start is you already know HOW LONG the job will take you. Now just multiply your daily rate times that number.

Slinger will tell you HOW to do it.

Sweet job it sounds like.

No HVLP for me
I love a few brushmarks to show it wasn't powdercoated
Just a few though
Lol

But really river rat, you should know what you need (or at least a target) for daily income
Add the materials and there you go

And remember, rich people can be cheap too
Her idea of "too expensive" a paint job may not reflect the fact that she doesn't feel getting a new Mercedes every six months is not too expensive
She might feel $500 is "too expensive" for a cabinet repaint

My numbers, or anyone else's numbers, won't work for you...really
They'll just be a guess
That's no way to run a biz

Re: Estimating Kitchen Cabinets-help!

It would take me and one other about 2 days to repaint 30 units, that includes drying time. Price is relative to where you live and how much you need to make per week... as Slick said.

To give you an idea however, it would be cheaper to replace em, i'd charge upwards of 3500.

How can you NOT know what to charge if you already know they will take you 4-5 days?

Re: Estimating Kitchen Cabinets-help!

My price on 5 days would be $3,000. Plus matierials with the markup. But that's just me.
