Epoxy Floors
How many contractors are doing epoxy floor coatings on a residential level? Do you sub out the concrete prep (shot blasting or grinding) or do that yourselves?

Re: Epoxy FloorsQuote:
Check and see if a rental place in your area has this equipment. I think you would be better off renting and doing it yourself for the profit. I beleive just the grinding goes for $1.00 per sq ft. I would think it would be pretty easy to do. I have been looking for diamond grinders on the net and edco seemed to have some pretty nice ones. That is who Don told me to go with. Take Care, LeRoy |

Re: Epoxy Floors
Edco tools are nice and yes it's easy to do.
Also, I have used the Elitecrete epoxies and spartic products. Very nice, very strong. The reflector products are basically mica powders you can throw in the epoxy. |

Re: Epoxy Floors
I have done garage floors, sandblasted them and painted with Armour Seal (SW), and Tenemic floor coatings as well. For someone to shot blast it AND CLEAN their mess expect $1.25-$1.50 a square foot. When it cant be sandblasted, I have no problems paying that for the prep work to be done. The equipment is very expensive to buy, and it you dont use it often enough it doesnt pay for itself versus subbing it.

SW Armour Seal 1000 HC
SW Armour Seal Rexthane Aiphatic Urethane. This was specified for a toyota dealer ship we did a few years ago. original color chips probably has the best selection of paint color chips..and different sizes |

Re: Epoxy Floors
also i dont think that shot blasting is required unless your doing a very high dollor job, or the concrete is very slick or just looks bad. We usually rent a concrete grinder with diamond blades or the stones are better. for roughing up the surface. and a good muratic acid etch and degreasing. SW HC is a very strong product. so the only thing you are doing is creating a bond. of course u cant go wrong with shot blasting.

Re: Epoxy Floors
Its just one coat of rexthane. Very Durable product.. a word of advice for those who havent used it...Any thick areas will turn white. That is the most important thing is to put it on constistant, just not heavy.

Re: Epoxy Floors
We grind the floors ourselves. After the floor is prepped then the rest is easy.
