Door Patch

I have a living room to paint with a door that was filled in. The walls are plaster, they framed in the door and hung a sheet of drywall on it.
I was thinking to run some self adhesive mesh around the door, skim the drywall, sand, then try my hand at hand texturing. Any thoughts?

Re: Door Patch

why do you want to texture the wall - is it textured already?

if you texture a wall it looks like you are trying to hide something. I would just tape and mud the seam. if the drywall is not flush with the existing wall you might have to re-install the drywall using firing strips but its better than a texture.
