Discussion
Interesting topic came up today as a new guy freaked out about getting 8 and a paid lunch at Hooters. We can all agree i'm sure that we are artists and service oriented, can't survive in this trade by not. It seems though, that i'm the only one that treats my employees like *I* feel they should. Soo....
What do you do for your main line? Or just you if your by yourself.... or do you at all? I'll start, my guys get about 2 lunches (around 2 hours) a month as long as they aren't milking the clock, paid... and most times 8 hours for 4 on Fridays. Superbowl, Xmas and 4th cookouts (Parties), company shirts and 40 for 9 to 3:30. Anyone else?

Re: Discussion
Well we do not have employees right now, but when we did, i or we would buy breakfast or other times some lunch. Give a 40hr week for lets say 35hrs.Turn them on to some side work, so they can put a bit extra into their pockets.
Just little stuff like that. |

Re: Discussion
I have one guy full time and pay for his lunch if we bag it and stay at the job. If we go out and its longer then an 1/2 hr then I might adjust the check. But normally I fugure its a perk and if I do a little for him he'll stay around w/ me thru the good times and the bad time
I pick up 2 or 3 college guys in the summer for exteriors and treat them the same if they are good workers. |

Re: Discussion
I'm still a one-man show, but am putting in seven days a week and 14 hours a day to keep up. I can't even find one guy who doesn't show up drunk, speaks english, or simply shows up at all.
I usually treat myself twice a week to a nice lunch (sushi) and take the paint store guys out to lunch once in a while. A little grease always helps. When I do have help I pay well, and VERY well. But then, I expect a lot too.
