Re: Diesel Fuel Price
Nope, we're just right smack dab in the middle of a ton of wells and close to a distribution hub. We generally lag about $.20 behind the rest of the nation.

Re: Diesel Fuel PriceQuote:
I know that I'm mad that we take over a country full of oil at the cost of nearly 1 trillion dollars and my fuel prices go up...? Isn't that like getting materials for 10% of actual cost and charging the customer full price plus 75% ? I should try that and see how it goes. |

Rising again? Shoot, I figure that paint has gone up 20% approximately in the last 2 years give or take a little.

Yeah i saw that on the national news a couple months ago. It will be showing true in the already over priced bread.

Re: Diesel Fuel Price
In the last year diesel has gone up 56% here. It might take 6 mo., but it will show in all other prices. To be honest, I'm thinking hard about making my own biodiesel. It's a lot of work, but if I could get enough people involved in a coop, it would cut my fuel costs by about 1/3 after all is said and done. Not too bad for a $500 investment split a couple of ways.
$1.50 a gallon plus about 4 hours of labor a week doesn't sound so bad now.

Re: Diesel Fuel Price
Diesel is $4.49 or it was on Thursday when I put almost $190. in the tank. In a few months when all of the people that are putting gas on a credit card with the hope that fuel prices will come down are not going to be able to cope with no more room on the card and no money to buy gas. What then?
A f'ing loaf of bread here (Seattle) is $4.19, an avacado is $2., a red bell pepper is $2.50, WTF?

Re: Diesel Fuel Price
Until we figure out how to lessen our usage (demand)...it's gonna keep going up.
OR.....if we can get push certain kook fringe groups out of the picture, we need to drill more and build more refineries (increase supply). As long as everyone in this country owns 4 cars and drives everywhere on a whim, and keeps building subdivisions further and further away from everything, we have no hope of lowering prices. Our whole country has been built around the automobile and the availability of cheap gas the last 60 years. Now it's coming back to bite us. Why should the oil companies try to lower prices? Prices and profits are as high as they've ever been and people still keep buying. If I had a job that I used to charge 1000 for, that I can now get 2000 for with no drop in the demand for my services...why would I go back to charging 1000?? Same thing with the oil companies. Of course they are risking really screwing up our economy in the meantime..but I don't think they care. They just see the next quarters profits. Or. perhaps it is a ploy to force the government to, at some point ease regulations on drilling and building refineries. Of course I wouldn't mind using Iraq's oil to increase our countrys supply. We've sure spent a lot to try and help them. How about a little reciprocation? But we can't do that because then the "see,...it was just a war for oil crowd would start whining". Really, we need to work on some alternative energy, but in the meantime, we need to increase supply....Demand is not ever going to go down any significant amount. |

Re: Diesel Fuel PriceQuote:
2 gas stations across the street from each other. One will either raise or lower their price so they are 10 cents a gallon different. The other hasn't followed suit yet (they always do-but of course they'res not collusion involved but almost every time-there as just as many cars if not more in the station with the significantly higher price. I think most people live their lives in a fog and have no idea what happens around them. Not much incentive to keep the lowest price. |

Re: Diesel Fuel Price
If you look at ever car driving on the street.... NO wonder why??... ALMOST EVERY DAMN BIG truck/car ONLY HAS ONE PERSON in it and the other 3 seats are empty!???.. A BIG engine drinking gas for dragging one person' feets uphill only??
Most streets only has 2-4 lanes & Freeway has 3-6 lanes, and most traffic delays causing by MOST SINGLE driver occupying just a SINGLE car!??.. Then accident happens, etc.. OMG. |
