Dear John,

I regret to inform you all that I was offered a sales position today and will be accepting it. My childhood dream of being a painting contractor, and turning into a old man with an ego the size of WPs expanding prostate, will have to be put on hold. The sales position is with a flooring company so I guess I can still post here. Thanks for being so helpful and Ill make sure to direct any painters this way to recieve help on "pricing" from you guys/gals. I shall be lurking in the shaddows, waiting to bust balls.

I have 5 years of proven sales experience and am only 28. I have sold over $8,000,000 of depreciating assets using my sales method, think ill be just fine. Thanks for your concern though. I think I will consider a lead anyone who buys from me twice.

Little edit for ya Mr. Mike,
A close is the natural conclusion to an excellent presentation.

Re: Dear John,

Good luck to you Bobby. I enjoy painting and it has been good to me but I would not wish this job on anyone. Maybe you will find yourself wanting to be a floor guy.

I sense a sigh of relief from leaving the paint industry for more horizontal paths... Well us wall jockey's will be here for your painter's if they need any knowledge other than spoon feed, hard learned leasons on what to charge. Thanks for playing and don't take what you learned for granite! HA! LOL.

Re: Dear John,

Go get 'em Bobby.

You seemed pretty smart for a painter anyhow.

FWIW
I have 2 grown boys. I didn't teach either of them how to paint.
Read into that what you'd like.

Re: Dear John,

Hey Bobby, I am so glad to read that you received that offer and that you have reconsidered the idea of being a painter. I know you have received lots of advice here and I am not sure if what I say means much to you, but one more thing: You will always want to have something sort of in the works. There are no guarantees in life, so you don’t want to put all your eggs in one basket so to speak. Someone very wise told me when I started my business “Congratulations! Now keep going and find other ways that you can earn money as well.” He is a highly successful realtor who is on his way to becoming a success coach, and his wife is an interior designer who teaches palates on the side. They always have something else in the works. Perhaps you don’t have to hang up your painters whites for good. Always have something else going. I have a painting business and am a substitute teacher on the side (I hate down time). I have other ideas I am working on as well.

You have so many years ahead and so much opportunity. Go for everything you can!!!

I agree 100% with you and would love to be able to take some side jobs when things are slow. I could always go back to giving guitar lessons on the weekend but I dont feel like hearing Marry Had A Little Lamb again. Why dont these kids wanna learn SRV or Floyd?

I have a feeling they already know you are here.

And that is very true, most of the questions here could use a swift kick in the GOOGLE.

Good luck with everything.
