Cracks O'Plenty...

Just did an estimate on an interior room. The walls have lots and lots of little cracks in the paint - picture the way a nail pop looks (except not raised). I flaked some of the paint off, and underneath was a bit chalky. BTW--walls are drywall. I first thought ventilation problem. These folks did mention having a new roof put on--but there were no known moisture problems or damge before roof was put on. Then I thought just a crappy paint job over dirty/dusty walls.

I am not sure what to make of this one--I could scrape and then Gardz, then paint, however 1) there are a lot of these little cracks, and I'd have to catch all of them. 2) I cannot guarantee that whatever or whoever caused this will not continue to occur. We tossed around the idea of hanging paper, but I am a ltille leary of what might happen underneath down the road.

Any one run into a problem like this?

I had something that sounds similar. I 2 coated with zinzzer peel stop, then skim coated walls, primed and 2 coats finish. Talked to client a few weeks back and this job was done about 14 months ago. Its pretty much holding up but with a little bit of issues in some spots.

Ex - was this the first time you tried Peel Stop?? I have been on the fence about trying it out, since I could not find any testimonials on it. Sounds like it may work.

But what was under the paint you flaked off?
Paint or sheetrock?

Its OK to tell them you need a bigger sample
This is an unusual case

I'd say scrape and Gardz or Fresh Start, skim if needed
But maybe this is a job for Peel Stop

It was the first time I tried Peel Stop and had never tried Gardz. Now...having tried both on all types of situations, I would probably just go with Gardz. Peel Stop worked, but Gardz just seems "harder" in less coats. If that makes sense.
