Coronado CeramaGard
Hi
Has anyone used this new paint and have any experiences with the Ceramagard?
http://www.coronadopaint.com/ceramag...ma_Product.htm
I have checked out there WS and its 100% acrylic with ceramic microspheres intermixed.
This sounds impressive and durable--they claim has excellent scrubbing abilities or even just a "wipe"
I havent talked to my coronado dealer bout it yet although he has mentioned it. I just wanted to hear from painters experience before hearing the "sales pitch" from a salesman.
I'm thinking this may be a new breakthru in paints but maybe has already been around a while-dont know?
Ceramic though does make me think that a bump or smack may crack, shatter, spiderweb, or damage this coating or layer .
Your thoughts please,
Thanx
Robert

Ceramic paint has been around for awhile, although it never caught on much due to its price tag. Haven't heard much else about it in like... 8 years... let me know what the salesrep says!

Is it washable oh my god yes ! I will do one coat of tinted primer, sand ,one coat of ceramic paint, sand, and final coat of ceramic with a 3/8ths nap cover and it is almost a dead flat in the 2 week cure time...any more questions feel free to pm me,Thanks !

Ok, how does it stand up to weather? Ie, vs. epoxy, water hoses.. etc. Is it waterproof? Last time I visited ceramic it wasn't... is it better? Grahams was a good paint, was almost as sad to see them bought out as I was Duron.
Reason for the questions was, I do work for FWMA, basically a animal doctor for the entire gold coast that takes care of injured animals... we recently did a few portables in epoxy so she could hose them out... would it stand up to that kind of abuse?

Do they still go by the Grahams label?

Ceramic paint has a 2 week cure time?
do you mean 2 weeks until able to scrub or wash? like the average cure time for reg latex paint.
I'll be going to my coronado dealer and asking about what other contractors are saying and maybe asking for them to give testimony about the CeramaGard
thanx
Robert

The stuff I used to use in the past was a product called Silken Touch by Porter/PPG. I think they used to tout it as being 'teflon modified', but not sure, don't recall seeing anything about it recently. But it was/is highly washable, and very comparable to the other 'ceramic' paints. but this stuff had a 30 day cure, don't touch it at all for 30 days, or it would mar the sheen. After 30 days, you could wash magic marker off it.

Exactly wallguy, I can't wait for Monday now to go check out this new version of ceramic... and yes, PPG claimed it was teflon modified, I think they said ceramic flake, teflon modied durable paint.... or something like that.
Not sure about the 2 weeks though, epoxy will cure in 3 days.

regarding cure time...it goes on with a sheen comparable to a low eggshell, after 1-2 weeks that sheen will disapear... so is this a cure time issue?

Yep.
BTW, I wouldn't call it an i ssue, but more of a characteristic of the paint.

Graham
Actually it is muralo out of new jersey that bought Graham's, not coronado and muralo claims the only change they have made is new jersey water instead of chicago water.
