Cleaning Spray Hoses

Besides water what flushes spray hoses the best. Is there something that can be mixed with water to help clean hoses. Latex paint can be thick and would like to clean the hoses better and faster.

Re: Cleaning Spray Hoses

When I clean my pumps, I usually run hot, soapy water through the pump and lines for a few minutes to clean them out good, then when the water looks clean, I run warm clear water through both.

If the hoses are rather bad or I'm just changing colors, I made an adapter that hooks from a female garden hose fitting to a 3/8" male pipe thread that the hose can screw on. Then hook it to a hot water faucet and let it run for a while. While the faucet doesn't have a very high pressure, it as a considerably higher volume than the pump to really flush out the line. Then when it runs clean, I either drain it by hand or blow air through it with a compressor to get the water out.

I then spray WD-40 on the hose ends to keep them clean. Then run mineral spirits through the pump to keep it lubed up and get the water out.

Re: Cleaning Spray Hoses

I had a helper who left my sprayer full of paint and he forgot to clean it out the hose was full of paint I took air compressor to blow most of the paint out then got some brush cleaner and filled a 5 gallon bucket enough to put the hose in the bucket and just let it sit in the brush cleaner then after a day I took it out and ran water into it it seemed to clear the hose out pretty good.
You can also use Red Lie mix with hot water and let it sit over night, you can also put your painters pants in Red Lie it will remove latex paint just make sure the zipper isn't plastic.

Re: Cleaning Spray Hoses

I use warm water with Dawn liquid dish soap seems to work pretty good for latex.
