Cleaning Airless Sprayer

The Graco 395st has not been used for a year and left with water and left over paint in it. My fault. It started to spray water as a test then stopped. It runs but there must be some dried paint that is in the pump stopping it from spraying. Would lacquer thiner help if it was pumped into the sprayer? Any ideas?
Thanks

I would take out the check ball and steel wool it and the seat...see if that helps, may need to be rebuilt after storing it with water for so long.

Take off all the hoses and place another good hose on if that is possible. See if it pumps water through the pump. If not then you need to take apart the fluid section, as stated before check the ball and see if it is stuck. There are actually 2 balls in the fluid section. Commonly the big ball gets stuck. I would repack the fluid section anyway after sitting in idle for so long.

Hmm. Remove the big strainer at the end of the pick up tube. Use a monkey wrenck or channel locks to remove the lower metal sleeve and pick up tube. Now, reach up into the pump tube and see if the check ball will pop loose. Sometimes it gets stuck. Remove gun if there is one. Use water again in bucket held up to pump sleeve. If ball is free, you should still get some pressure- enough to clean it out. May need new packings/ball/seat...make sure in line filter is clean too...

Good Luck,
Bob

A repacking kit wouldn't be a bad idea.
