clawfoot tub exterior painting

So What is the best painting procedure/products to use for paining an old clawfoot tub that probally has at least a handful of coats on it already?

There is a special coating and special spray equipment for these tubs , I would strip all of the previous coatings off and prep it , then hire or sub out the finish coat to someone with the proper experience and equipment- google bathtub refinishing/glazing.

ok.. thanks for all the help ... Anyways.. Im going to sand the exterior. Use kilz oilbased ext. primer. 2 coats. Then top coat with black gloss paint. What do you think about them apples?

I would scrap the kilz idea, and use xim clear primer it is by far a superior product
