This is a simple but very cool answer for this common problem

Re: Check Out This Video

just because it works doesn't mean there's a market for it. I could store spares in my garage but not in the truck, that space is reserved for sensible day to day equipment, I carry a small kit of screws and nails but even that gets in the way. I wish people would stop inventing ways to make life complicated, the house is too small, the garage is too small,, and next I'll have to drive an aircraft carrierto work ,, wouldn't want to be unprepared.!

Re: Check Out This Video

as you see it Pete. But just to say I think you could store a 1/8 inch strip like this in your pack of cigerttes. Frankly, I'm pretty sure there is room in an entire truck.

Was there actual ductwork behind that?

Re: Check Out This Video

I don't think return vents nearly ever have any duct work involved. That's the trouble. The space between the dry wall is the duct work and if the holes are not lined up with a stud there isn't anything good to screw in to. Mud rings are meant for electrical boxes. No such thing for vents. You can get a free sample off the web site.

Re: Check Out This Video

couldn't I just use a plastic plug , an expanding plug like for hanging pictures or a hunk of wood from a pile in the corner, why do I really have to buy something specific. Sure whatever, I'll special order it along with a thousand other things I didn't get online 'cause I'd rather pick it out in regular store.

Re: Check Out This Video

Understood. Of course you may do what you prefer. The plugs are explained on the web site. They are not designed for this. They require an intact hole. They would have to fit the hole or slip or make it bigger... Might work in a pinch if you happen to even have one and the cover screw that looks right may not fit. Thats a lot of maybes. As far as wood in the corner. I guess if you are in construction but as an airduct cleaner I have no deris to sit and cut and drill and fit... This is just quick and ready. You can get a free sample off the site if you like. Or you are free to construct some for your self if you are so inclined.
