There's a cabinet maker in my area that has the tag line, "...serving only the most discriminating clients", in his ads and on his trailer. Either he is telling you he's expensive, or he only works for white supremacists.

I think there is pros and cons but what P.W.G says about insurance bids are correct I charge on them.

LOLOL

In sales, you need to target your customers and ask yourself what would they want to see in order to call and eventually use your service.

I want the customers that don't mind spending the money it takes to get my service....as long as they get a 100% perfect job.

When I speak to other trades on various jobs, they see how detial oriented I am...most ask for business cards after working with us.

I am always sure to tell them we are more expensive than most painters but well worth it. I ask them nicely to explain this to anyone they give my card to.

Not tooting my own horn, just explaining how I am trying to run things to get the customers I want.

I am not rich by any means but I have a dream--LOLOL

The funny thing is...we are the industry ... and we dictate what to do..
.....all we got to do is all do it.

I think if we all start charging for every estimate, we make the wannabe DIY 1 step closer to going to HD and buying the "complete" paint kit and a couple of gallons of B***. I mean, for a $50 estimate, they can buy some supplies and paint and do it themselves. Most already think we charge outrageous prices and never consider all the costs we have. Just my opinion.
