Caulking

Tried searching, head hurts, too many to read.
I been using Dap caulk and it seems to shrink too much when it dries.
What type of caulk do you use for interior trim when using latex paint?

What about nail holes? I just tried some "Crack Shot" which i was told was pretty good because it does not shrink.

Opinions?
suggestions?
preferences?

Re: Caulking

Polyseamseal holds up rather well IMHO. Dynaflex (sp?) is also a good caulk.

Re: Caulking

The best by far is Sidewinder by Dap. Very similar to Sikaflex. Needs solvent to clean up but its worth it.

Re: Caulking

Sher-max from Sw is pretty good caulk, expensive though, depends on the job. An easy way that I have found to know how good caulk is, is by how sticky it is. If you can wipe it off your hands with a dry rag its garbage, if you need thinner to get it off its pretty good. The non shrink stuff for nail holes that I have used is pretty much garbage and still shrinks.

Re: Caulking

I second that sher max ultra from SWP is the best. Elastomeric caulk with a lifetime warranty. Its the only stuff my guys use.

Re: Caulking

Alex plus with either glazing compound 55 or painters putty 53 for nail holes for interior trim. The alex plus 40 min is good too, but its alittle thicker when it comes out and harder to work with.

Re: Caulking

Alex, Bolt, SW, BM, Phenoseal
They've all got good stuff
Whatever's handy
Though Pheno's not my first choice
The Lightning "Bolt" is quick dry and easy to work with

Re: Caulking

I still like Dap "Fast 'N Final" for filler.
It swells a bit instead of shrinking,
and just takes a touch with
fine paper to make it disappear.

Re: Caulking

I always liked Duron Maxflex the best of any caulk I used. Since I can't sell Duron I'm going to give White Lightning Excellatex a try, which is comparable to Maxflex.

Re: Caulking

I know this is an old post, but I used to used DynaFlex for everything, But I am switching over to White Lightning 3006 All-Purpose. I was very impressed with the results...
