California Knockdown Question...

Anybody here do this type texture? If so, how is it put on? Is it hopper sprayed then knocked down or is it rolled/slapped/stomped and knocked down? Just curious 'cause I'm ready to do a knockdown job on my own living/dining/family room combo.

In case nobody here does spray it from a hopper, I'm wondering if it would actually work? Prolly have to fiddle with the mixture a little but seems to me like it should work. Anybody...?

Thanks,
Dale

Re: California Knockdown Question...

You can do Knockdown on walls w/ a hopper. Ceilings on the other hand? Powder mix works the best for ceilings (when using a hopper) because it is lighter than the all purpose bucket mud. Don't mix either one to thin or you will have a smooth finish when you knock it down.

Re: California Knockdown Question...

Different size knockdown sizes require different hopper tip sizes. The bigger the tip size the bigger the texture. Adjust the air volume to fit the size you need. Mud consistency is another factor. Thicker mud can make bigger texture. Have fun

Re: California Knockdown Question...

Dont know what California knockdown texture is. Im guessing its normal knockdown. Just follow my previous comments on size, air volume and mud consistency. You will get it right the third time. So practice twice before the real deal.

Re: California Knockdown Question...

In the midwest anything with a "California" moniker carries a certain cache. Don't ask why. I remember working with a wallcovering hanger from LA who used to make what he called "California snake seams" where he wove the seam down the wall like a curvy snake. LOOKED LIKE SH*t.

Lol was it wall paper or vinyl. You can do the with some vinyl and only some if your drops match and we can all take a guess on how often that happens
