California

OK, went in to a paint store today to get some charts for B. M. paint. Noticed another line of paint called California Paint. I didn't ask about it or what the differance in cost would be , but just wondering what you guys that do this on a daily basis think about this brand. On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being poor quality, 10 above avg. Thanks.

The 2010 line which is a ceramic with microban is beyond a 10.The interior velvet is my favorite. It is super washable and great to work with.I have been using California products since the mid 1970s and have always been happy with them.

I haven't used it enough to say for sure, but the very few times I have used it, it was fine

It's not really available around here either
Funny, because it's made around here

I dunno why they do not promote more

I do know they were started around here as a coatings supplier for Raytheon's nuke missiles and other necessary nasties

They called their company California Coatings because the Cali military industrial machine was the other big deal, and they thought the name would give them clout with the big boys over here

Maybe they just spilled over into consumer goods as an afterthought
Or to put a "face" on the company
(we may think of GE as an appliance company, but they make huge bucks making some nasty stuff for Uncle Sam....and other countries)

But dealing with giant govt sub-contracts doesn't give any realistic marketing expertise lol
It's a whole different world
I wouldn't be surprised if they were confused by actual consumers

"You've got the money, I'll take that thank you.
You want the paint? OK, wait...we need more time
(two hours later)
Yeah...I think we are going to need more money
(give them more money)
mmm...another hour....
(another hour)
Well, we'd like to give you the paint, but there's all the cost over-runs during the mixing procedures, it's gonna be another 5 bucks a gallon
(give them 5 bucks more a gallon)
OK....come back tomorrow"
...etc...

I use it sometimes.. would say it's a 10...... kinda expensive..hard to talk customers into the cost. Some ask for it.

Slick it's available around MA, they just don't promote it at all it seems. Kelly is right it is pricey, but very good paint. The corporate office is in Andover, MA.

I live in CT too, and that is what I bought to paint my livingroom with a few years ago.

BTW - I am not a painter by trade (obviously), but when I was in my late teens I worked in a BM paint department, and the California Paint was really nice.

LOL - I wish! I am going to totally rephrase my above statement. Here it goes.

MANY moons ago, when I was in my late teens I worked in the BM paint department in our local hardware store. ..............(implying some knowledege of the products)

Fast forward - a few years ago I used the California paint for my livingroom and I really liked it! It was the thickest paint I personally had ever used.

See what happens when I hang out with all you guys - my communication skills start to diminish!

california

I have used their exterior 2010 paint, and I like that. My store does not carry their interior line. The california rep did tell me before though that Graham has the best washable flat (this was a few years ago though).
