Brush Filaments?

What kind of filaments do you guys prefer in a brush? We're experimenting with a few newer brushes and adjusting our product line a bit. For ages we've carried a variety of Wooster brushes. Recently we decided to drop most of those containing the cheaper gold nylon. Most of what we carry now has the classic purple nylon or nylon plus with a few lines blending in black polyester. Recently we brought in a sample of Wooster's new Silver Tip CT brush. It's made from white and silver polyester but it undergoes a chemical tipping process to give it a very soft feel. I can sell this thing for under $7 even though it seems to be on par with some of the nylon brushes that sell for twice as much. If anyone has used these I'd love to hear your opinions before I bring them in. I'm also looking at a line of brushes containing a Chinex filament. Anyone have any experience with those?

chinex is quite nice to work with ,great release, holds alot of paint ,and cleans up easily with the new ceramic paints... are you talking about the gen x and gen y brushes by elder and jenks ?....they are actually pretty nice to work with compared to the coronas that I normally buy .

No I'm looking at the 100% Chinex Wooster makes since we mainly stock Wooster brushes. I appreciate the input.

Yeah we carry the Xtra Firm. It's been my brush of choice since we first got them.

Then I am not sure of the silver tip one, lets know if you get it and how painters in your area like them or don't...

Re: Brush Filaments?

I have not used the silver tip, just looked at them at my paint store. They look pretty good, but I cannot convince myself to try a $7 brush and still call myself a painter! I think they should sell like hotcakes to the DIY crowd. Definitely stock some chinex, they are my favorites for cutting in on drywall.

Re: Brush Filaments?

I had one Silver Tip come in that I ordered for a sample. I was going to give it to a painter that frequents the store for some feedback. But another customer bought it out of my hand before I had the chance to give it away. I think I'll definitely bring these in. It's the best brush I've seen for the price. I'll order a sample chinex as well. Anyone know what the big advantages of Chinex are over other solid Nylon brushes? I know paint release is suppose to be one big factor.
