Blistering Paint

I am working in this house. The painter is having trouble with the paint blistering. It is a 1960's house. All the prep work has been done well. The nail pops are filled with drywall compound and sanded down. Some walls are primed to seal up the pop marks. The other walls that do not have pops are not sealed. The paint is aura (Benjamin Moore). Home owner insists on this paint. the room is cool 55 degrees when we are painting.

The problem is that the wall are blistering with in one hour of painting the walls some blisters are 1/2 inch to 1/8 inch in size. Sometimes where the drywall pops are fix other times no where near a fixed pop.

The painter has contacted the 1-800 number & no good answer. The local retailer also has no good answer.

Is there anyone out there that has experienced this problem and has a solution?

Re: Blistering Paint

You need to have the Ben Moore rep come out and see if there is moisture in the wall with that fancy gauge they use.

Re: Blistering Paint

One thing to consider is that ambient room temperature is supposed to be about five degrees higher than the actual substrate (so sayeth the sherwin rep). Obviously this wouldn't apply if sun was directly shining on the surface.

thank you both for your help. the room heat was turned off and the air temp. may have been colder than the wall.

Seen this a few times when the paint was put on too soon after drywall, repairs made. Tiny bubbles right?
