There is oodles of advice in the archives.... Scroll through and read forum titles, you will find a lot of good reading.

Re: Bidding Repaints

...it comes down to knowing the time it will take to complete the specified areas. I use my hourly rate and a daily charge I came up with based on my OH. This helps keep my hourly rate more appealing. I generally do not use SF for repaints, only new construction.

Re: Bidding Repaints

If you are biding at what you need to make, then you are doing it right
(don't forget some profit in that need)

Other companies that sell by price alone should not be your competition
Don't let them be
A customer who wants the cheapest price is not the best type of customer (not at all), and should not be your target customer

There will always be someone hungrier, more desperate, more addicted....and a painting service cheaper than yours

If you are getting what you need for jobs, don't change your price structure
Work more on your sales/marketing
Explain to people why your services are worth more...revel in the fact

There will always be people who'll say "well I can get a couple of -insert nationality of local immigrants here- to do it cheaper"
use the oppertunity to explain why you are more, and why you are worth it (Return phone calls, prompt completion, leaving the house livable after every day, clean, neat appearing employees, no swearing, hall runners, insurance, green cards, employee background checks...etc...etc...)

Some people won't care, and that's fine
But like I said, people looking for the cheapest service only, they are not good customers
