Bidding Commercial Work

Need some help on determining how much to charge per sq ft. on Exterior Commercial work.

What is the average cost per sq ft you would charge to paint a large exterior surface, excluding trim work.

What do you charge for trim work?

Thanks!

Re: Bidding Commercial Work

I just shopped my area for exterior paint on 3 120'x55' two story office buildings. Two body colors per building, old buildings/new hardi plank, one trim color, no windows on three sides, lots of windows, trim and columns on the fronts. I got prices, including paint, ranging from $.75sf. to $1.25sf.

Wrong forum but... WHAT?? I would get tar'ed/feathered and run out of town naked, cold and getting bricks thrown at me for doing exterior commercial for those prices. Sounds more like spec new home blow and go... minus paint.

what part of the country are you from? It is pretty competitive here in jax,fl, but for crying out loud. Where will those paint contractors be after or for that fact half way through the job. Sounds like a price brewed for disaster. When I first started I gave out crazy prices to get started and so many times I thought half way through what in the world was I thinking. Most people at that time bolt quicker than lightning. I gave a price on a exterior kmart for $2 sf and it was about 28Ksf. That was probally not what I should have done it for, but no way would I touch it for the prices you recieved.
