Best Primer?
i was at a house we did about 3 years ago and when i got a chance i snooped around to see how everything was holding up. we used alot of fine paints of Europe on this job cause the client was open to the idea of paying more upfront (the brochure has some elaborate pitch)
she had these crazy 3 piece pella casements... almost 100 windows... we primed and painted with FPOE and upon inspection they are still looking new... no failing or flaking under the sash or anywhere else it is semi exposed outside. it is pricey, but the long oil primer is by far the best brushable primer i have used what is yours? |

Re: Best Primer?
Cancel from Kwal when I have paint grade wood or MDF.
ProBlock from Sherwin Williams for stain blocking because it matches the acoustic white when I am spot priming a water stain. Drywall gets Preprite 200. Also from Sherwin Williams.

Re: Best Primer?
drywall- SW Preprite 200 or 400
raw wood- usually SW Problock (either oil or latex) misc slick surfaces- either SW bonding primer, or a bullseye product i have even used BM Fresh start on several occasions and that was fine too for drywall, and raw wood. truthfully, i'm not overly picky on primers. i'll reduce it or juice it up to make it flow the way I want. As long as it seals whatever surface I need it to. |

Re: Best Primer?
Drywall: Porter Paint #867 Promaster Drywall Sealer
New Wood: Porter #184 Kilstain WB or Glyptex Alkyd Undercoat. Stained Wood: Porter Kilstain. Tannin stains: Oil Primer Plastic, fiberglass,PVC, Etc: Porter U-Prime. FirstCoat is a good high build product for drywall. Helps hide imperfections. Becareful when using a scheen. Sometimes you have to use a regular primer to seal the FirstCoat. Love this type of product on flat ceilings. We use a similar product from Porter called Max-Prime. Not reccomended under a non-flat paint. We always reprime the prime. |

Re: Best Primer?
We just sprayed the drywall of a large job with PPG 6-2 & I love it! It was our first time with this product & the walls look like they are finished. Its a solid white finish & looks like the final coat. (If it was white)
