Best place to operate a residentail repaint business?

Hey, I was just curious as to if you could start an exterior residential repaint business anywhere in the United States where would you do it? I currently operate out of Bellingham, WA and have been growing a lot. However I do about 80% of my work from March-September and would like to kill those winter blues. I once saw a stat chart online about the best states for painting businesses (I don't recall where). Anyways thank you for your input!

Just about any capital city... i've noticed in my own travels that capital cities normally have more moola than outlying areas. Here for instance, I drive to Midway (about 40-50 miles away) or Wallkula and my price just went down by .50 a square.

Well if yor going to consentrate on exteriors find somewhere thats growing and has a long exterior season. I wish I could be outside longer here in Chicago but it not worth the risk with the crazy weather we get in the fall. I have seen guys painting house's in Jan and the just dont hold up. The think that we have couple of nice days (Dec - Feb) and try to bang one out.

Joewho - I have heard vegas is good as I knew many painters who went to NV in the late 90's

Well, hey Mak, hook me up with one of those guys. I'm dyin' here.

My msn and yahoo homepages are still set to chicago weather, and it's a lot different than here. Last two weeks, mid 60's, people I know are wondering why the new plants aren't budding. I tell em "it's february, the days have to be longer, not just warm".

I could not tell you statisticly what the best place to start up would be. As far as where i am, you would not believe how many farmer tracts are being turned into new sub-divisions.

anyone that focused just on exteriors would kill around here (Canada). Just seems like anyone who gets past the 5 year mark, prefers interiors.
