Best Paint Prices In Orlando

HI GUYS! AS I TOLD YOU YESTERDAY I JUST CAME FROM NY, AND OVER THERE I USED BENJAMIN MOORE PAINT FOR PRIVATE HOUSES AND A CHEAPER PAINT CALLED MERCURY TO PAINT IN BUILDINGS.

WHAT IS THE MOST USE PAINT BRAND HERE AND WHERE WOULD I GET THE BEST PRICES.

CAN I OPEN AN ACCOUNT? WOULD THEY DELIVERY FOR ME?
DO YOU USE THE SAME QUALITY OF PAINTS IN ALL YOUR JOBS?

THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP.

ps: I HAVE BEEN INTO COMPUTERS AND THE INTERNET FOR MANY YEARS BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I SEAT DOWN TO TALK TO PEOPLE THAT I DON'T KNOW. (YOU HAVE A VERY INTERESTING SITE AND POSITIVE THINGS TO TALK ABOUT) (IT FEELS LIKE TALKING TO FRIENDS) KEEP IT UP

Re: Best Paint Prices In Orlando

N.Y. Painter,

Well, let me think...

Question #1-2 combo: There is S&W, Duron, Porter Paints, Pittsburg Paints, Glidden, Benjamin Moore, and my favorite… M.A.B. Paints. (Note: They are my favorite, because they are right up the road from where I live, so access is easy, and they have excellent product.) I’m sure there are a few others, but they escape my recall at the moment. To get the best prices… wear painter’s whites, set up an account, buy substantial quanties, and maybe request a sales rep. In other words, establish yourself as a contractor.

Question #3-4: Find a paint store close to you, walk in (wear the whites) and give ‘em a chat to see what services to the contractor they offer, and what it would take to set up an account. I think any paint store will deliver when quanties are requested. It would also be a good place to drop off some cards, if you are getting started. My guys at M.A.B. Paints in Winter Park are super. I wouldn’t trade ‘em for a group of good coonhounds, even if the dogs could hunt. I have yet to be in any paint store in Central Florida where the folks were un-friendly (if you wear your whites).

Question #5: I do mostly residential repaints. I use the best products my paint store offers, except if I’m doing a rental, where the property manager is looking for price and speed, then I will use an apartment grade flat designed to cover in one coat and look good. That is what I use on most ceilings, also, because of the flat, flat coverage. I shy away from commercial work. I have done the new construction thing, and have been cured of it. My philosophy is fit the paint to the project, meaning; I’m not one to use a cheap paint on a residential repaint, or a pricey paint on a rental property.

I’m glad you found a place you can call home. There certainly is a great group of diverse folks here. You are fitting in very nicely, and you are very polite. But, you gotta get the shift key unstuck on your keyboard. Typing all caps makes me think you are hollering.

So, how are you coming along with the license and insurance stuff? Did Nathan shoot you in the right directions?

My bro- in - law (GC) likes MAB. I like them and BM, BM sends me the most leads. I hear a lot of good things about Porter in general but our store really lacks in congeniality, they act like they are doing me a favor when they get around to me. I'm sure that it is just this store or they would be out of business.

Re: Best Paint Prices In Orlando

Thanks again to all for your tips.

Sumpen The caps letters it's just a bad habit) i always type everything like that.

Swishpainting: Remember in my first e-mail i said i know how to paint but i don't have a clue about the business, well for the past 4 years i have been painting for a jewish man that owns a few buildings and a management company with a lot of other building in brooklyn, i got hook up by my best friend that is a super and a supervisor for that company and i learn to charge by the EYE
no mesurement, no square foot nothing.

My friend let him get use to that and when he couldn't take care of the painting jobs no more, that's when i got in and i kept working the same way.

(I have to say that painting have been for me just a part time job) i was a manager for many years in a parking garage in nyc (12 worked there)
and the paint jobs was like a 3 months or so in the year. (i got the time and the people to do the jobs every year)

When i got some private home or apartments i'll charge the same way, i let the people pay for materials and charge just for labor (per room) a 2 beedroom apt. with everything else and ceiling about $1800 to $2000

Last job i did for the Jew man was last year, a 4 floor building and an annex, it took me and two other guys 3 weeks to finish and i charge him a little more than $9 K. (but it was a loooot of square foots).

So i want to learn from the expert, and i hope when ever i got in trouble some body will trough the tower for me.

thanks a million

Hey NY Painter,
I would have to recommend finding a Shewin Williams in your area.
Ive used my SW store, Benny Moore store, and ICI Dist Store.
Ive had an account with SW for just over 2 years, and because of my quanity, Im at a 18% discount on my products, and and 25% discount on my paint. Benny Moore and ICI have never even come close.
I have a friend, a GC who buys mass quanities, who has been with ICI for over 14 years. Just 3 weeks ago, he got his 1ST charge account discount, 10%.
