Question

Best Paint For?

Could you tell me what the best paint would be for Crown Molding, made of HDF Board. Crown is wide 10" and would like it to look like wood painted a nice shiny white. Also do you have a color white that you feel looks the best. I also need to paint HDF shelves in closets. What paint would be the most durable. Thanks for any advice.

For me, Ben-Moore's REGAL satin enamel is the best. It levels out nicely, works superbly and just looks like an oil. I know some guys here like SW's Pro-Classic, I just haven't had that much experience with it.

I agree with Steve Richards on the shelves also! I was referring only to the crown...

Re: Best Paint For?

Any paint will work ('cept for Behr) on the crown molding, prime it first.

I like either a flat latex or an oil base on shelves. Latex w/gloss likes to "stick" to objects placed on shelves painted w/it.

Like MakDeco said...Muralo Ultra, or my choice since I no longer have easy access to Muralo, is Pittsburgh Paints' Manor Hall. It's the only product that I have used, that matches the quality of Muralo.

Pretty much any oil-based semi gloss enamel. It'll last forever and just has that smooth look you want.
