best finish product for natural cedar shingle

Hi folks,
I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the best product for finishing new cedars shingles. Ive picked up the material and think i will finish it (front and back) before i put it on. Im looking for something that will fight mold and not effect the natural look of the cedar too much.

....thanks very much. Mike

Ready Seal for your application. It's a non drying parafinic oil. Shakes tend to dry up and curl. This type of oil keeps them conditioned. Mold spores also do not feed upon this type of oil. I don't really care for the product on decks as it leeches out and fades to quick but it meets the requirements you seek, Joe.

when you say "wont affect the natural look" do you mean the new cedar natural look, or wont affect the natural graying that occurs.?

I know there isnt much i can do to keep the shingles from aging, i just want a product that will protect and keep the "new" look as long as possible.

well it goes

1) solid stain will last the longest because it containes the most pigments

Then.....

2) semi solid

3) semi transparent

4) transparent

when ever I have a customer that wants transparent, or clear, I explaine the info listed above, and tell them they can get on a preventative maintenance program with me if they like.
