A Ben Moore Guy Uses Sherwin Williams Part IV

A Ben Moore Guy uses Sherwin Williams Part IV
or Back To The Egg(shell) and Superpaint Drips

Hey, this stuff is drippy
I'm getting sags too
Of course I'm used to the AquaVelvet
But really I'm not trying to do this in one coat or anything
I'm really trying to see how it works
It's an odd color, Persimon, and it's over primer over old color, but after using the Deep Colors and the exterior Duration, I thought the Superpaint could go on thicker
I guess not huh?
Is the Cashmere any different?

Heh.. yes we actually have stores in florida. I prefer Duron really but the closest one here is 2 hours away... Porter (PPG) has some really good coatings though, I stay away from the cheapos. BM has some good coatings as do SW, but, like always... the cheaper the paint....

Re: A Ben Moore Guy Uses Sherwin Williams Part IV

Super paint is some good stuff. Like a number of SW products it doesn't have ungodly viscosity. (Save for Color Accents, THAT is heavy paint) However, I have found that it covers extremely well, and levels out great. The sags are usually buildup in corners and such because super paint isn't very forgiving on that, but if you lay it down smooth you'll get an extremely nice finish. The biggest thing I worry about when using super paint is dry time, and more so when doing metal doors, etc. where it has to be perfect because super paint dries QUICK! You let it sit for a good min or two and touch you'll streak every time. Gotta move fast on doors.

Re: A Ben Moore Guy Uses Sherwin Williams Part IV

Thanks AA
I think this stuff covers like Supercrap
And sags and drip like ice cream

...OK, that's a bit harsh but it sounds funny
...and slightly true
Really, it seemed to level well and all, but the coverage is not nearly what I expected
Not even close to Deep accents or AquaVelvet
After reading your post I wonder if it's the color

The drips and sags were from cutting in, I didn't notice that it was in the corners per say, but I'll keep an eye on that on the second coat

I didn't notice that it dried too quickly, but I'm pretty fast and it was walls so I might not have noticed

Thanks AA, that's the kind of input I was looking for
I appreciate it

Re: A Ben Moore Guy Uses Sherwin Williams Part IV

I'm surprised to hear you say it didn't cover well. Depending on color, you can almost count on one coat coverage with super paint. I guess I don't notice the drippin part because super paint and duration are what I use the most, and both are thin in comparison to other paints. My biggest trouble, again, relates to corners. Bottom corners of the panels on 6 panel doors to be exact. If I don't watch that area it gets me every time, but I've done whole exteriors and interiors with both products and had no coverage issues.

Lol...I'm surprised to hear that...and surprised you're surprised...lol

I definitely can't see this covering with one coat
I mean, I didn't try for it, but I can't see it happening-not with this stuff
Must be the color then
