Ben Moore Collection Eggshell Recoat 1-2 Hrs

Hi everyone
i picked up my paint order at my Ben. Moore store on my way from work for use on tomorrow's job.and discovered that the eggshell latex is a new product. It says dry to touch in i hour and recoat in 1 - 2 hours.
This threw me for a loop and i have been thinking that i might need to extend the drying time for the high walls i am rolling out . I am working off aladder to reach the top. Is anyone familiar with this product
thanks

What product?
They've got a few latex eggshells
Though off-hand, I never noticed a 2 hour re-coat time

Collection has been the name of the Regal line
for a few years in Canada.
Their new formulation is supposed to have realy fast re-coat times.
We never tried it yet.

Re: Ben Moore Collection Eggshell Recoat 1-2 Hrs

I used the new collection eggshell and It is a great product. It sets up fairly quick. I was working in an open concept/vaulted ceiling with a row of 8 windows 8" just below the ceiling and i had to work off a 28' ladder so i had to hustle bigtime . Ben moore is our top line paint up here on the westcoast, there is nothing comparable to it. My last client wanted me to use home depot (stupid )paint and I told him i would not use it, he'd have to find another painter. He called my bluff and I walked. fortunately I had other jobs.

i would ask them if it is ok to add 2-4 oz. of propylene glycol to it when you need to keep it open longer. I'm not familiar with this formulation so you'll just have to ask... or... try it on some scrap wood or something...

works good, looks great... rolling in doesn't work that great if you do it too soon... Let your cuts dry, then roll... I know this sounds sorta sideways, however.... if you roll too soon, than you get alittle pull off, prematurely, or sooner than you would've before...

imo I really dig it so far...

Re: Ben Moore Collection Eggshell Recoat 1-2 Hrs

yeah, Danahy i cut and went went back after it set up and then rolled it didn't pull off and actually this was one of the issues i was expecting to have since with the previous eggshell I would usually cut a wall (at a time)and roll while it was still open.
Just means working with the product alittle differently. I like it better than the new washable flat (ulti matte)
Regarding using couple of ounces of propylene glycol to keep it open, i'll check it out, have you actually done this with other latex paints Wolverine? I have used flotrool in the past., what are the advantages of using p. glycol

thanks guys

So is "collection" a new line in the Ben Moore paints, or is it just a change in formula for the Regal line? Because I've been using Ben Moore Regal for quite some time now....maybe 2 years (unless I'm thinking of something else). Regardless, I've had no problems cutting and going straight to rolling.

"collection" is the re formulated Regal line in Canada, Regal has just been reformulate here in the midwest (US) and its still called Regal. Not sure when it the re form was put out in the west or east..
