True story
My sister just bought a house
Funny enough, right down the road from a Home Despot
Calls me up "we need help...we need painting done"
"OK sis, I'll be down this weekend"
Sis "We bought Behr paint for-"
Me "Return it"
Sis "What?!?"
Me "Just return it. Then go get some Ben Moore or Pittsburgh"
Sis "I...I...I just bought it, I'm not returning it"
Me "Then Dump It Down The Drain and go get some good stuff. I'm not kidding"
Sis "wah...?...I'm not dumping it down the drain..."
Me "You'll be sorry"

The weekend comes around, me & the wife are heading over
Me (to wife) "Man, I really, really, really, hope she bought some real paint. If we get there and she's got gallons of Behr for me to use...I...I...I'll just hope there's a couple of piles of the neighbor's dog crap in her yard that I can eat to prove my love for my sister, because I am not using that Behr"

So I'm on the edge of my seat here! What happened? Did she dump/ return it?

Did you eat poo?

Re: Behr Paint

No
She bought picky me some Pitts
And decided to use the Behr herself in another part of the house

After two hours of bitching she came over and said she now knew what I meant about the Behr

Re: Behr Paint

Try as I do to avoid it, I do end up using that stuff about once a year though
This year it was over quickly, in February
Maybe that's it for this year
Man, that stuff still goes on like crap, and still looks like crap when dry
The next day I painted Impervo over (year old ) Behr on trim
Same color-Lord what a difference
You could see the quality difference from 12, 15 feet away
On trim!

Re: Behr Paint

Ditto I would love to save a few bucks there but if it costs me my job in a yr. or two then what I am switching over a little at a time to BM store. Been using SW and the manager is great. But the BM store has been run by the same family since God made dirt. Kids and grand kids all went to schools around here..., anyway rant over. Truth is, It hurts, but something has to change the direction things are going.

I do most of my shopping for paint at mom and pop stores, I figure I am a small Co so why shouldn't I support small Co's.

Re: Behr Paint

How many more threads will you "contractors" ask about behr paint?

if you can't realize how poor quality it is, you are not a quality painter

Period

Don't bring up behr paint again, there is no reason to discuss it

Re: Behr Paint

Hmmm, I am a neophyte at spray painting, Bought a Titan 440i. Just built a shed with an attached carport. Used Behr because my wife used Behr to repaint some stuff on the house. Followed the instructions from the Titan book and inputs from some pro painters I know. Result, looked great when you were looking directly at the outside walls. Around dusk, looking at an angle I could see spray marks, inconsistent texture. So I got some more suggestions and did it again, looks better but I'm still not happy. Figured I would paint some friends sheds for free (labor) and get some more practice. Could it be the paint and not ME?? Several paint contractorsI know swear by Dunn Edwards. None use Behr, never asked why. I've got to get better before I charge someone for painting.

We just had a thread about sprayer addiction. Neophitism is a serious problem. Neophites often repeat themselves.

It could have been a combination of both...

Knowing what I know about Behr and it's viscosity, I can't even fathom putting it through a sprayer. I would imagine it would come out in golf ball size chunks.

Anyway, try it with a better paint. Spraying does take some practice, it's not really hard but it does take practice.
