Bathtub Refinishing

I'm considering getting into bathtub refinishing. I've looked at midwest chemicals products. Anyone have any info or advice on finishing tubs, toilets, etc? THanks

Re: Bathtub Refinishing

Its a highly competitive low margin business with lots of assumed risk.
The products are considered good if they last 5 years.
You need advertising in a heavy sense because you have to sell a lot of tub refinishing to make a living and support a business.
So if you get 10 leads a week, with the average sale being $500 you will need a high closing rate. There are guys out there that do tubs for $300.
So figure out the cost of a truck, insurance, advertising, office supplies per month, then what you need to get paid. Figure out how many jobs that will take and go for it.
You need a large population area and plenty of ads to get your name out. You need to be a closer.
My opinion is your buying a job. Buy it may lead to other opportunities.
So good luck with your new business.

you will get the best bang for your buck from midwest(imho)but get your solvents else where. i use a lot of MEK.use their silanes.I dont do crappers.i use the 4 hour coating and tell the custemer no use for 24 hours, they can live with that.even though i live right next door to tiajuana i still make a good living and so could U.their is more than enough work for us ALL who do this type of specialty coatings, look in the yellow pages under painters VS bathtub refinishers U will see little competion .

What part of the country do you live in? Midwest chemicals are a starting point but not an ending point! I've been in the business for 8 years.

Re: Bathtub Refinishing

just finished my first tub and three sink tops with midwest chemicals product. It worked great!!!! I sprayed their multistone on one of the counters and it turned out fantastic. They are having me back to do all of their basement floors.
