Bath Tubs

I've done a few bath tubs in my day of spraying wonders. Always used Tile Doc, and they seem to come out fine. Are there any other products out there that will out preform Tile Doc in the bath tub, sink, and tile refinishing department? Also in the cure and use time....

I'm looking for something that may have more body and build to it.

Also, I love the new ICI Advanced Waterborne. It lays out beautifully when spayed. Brushing, like all waterbornes require a slow down agent.

I have repaired and refinished many hundreds of tubs sinks showers and counter tops on porcelian tile fiberglass cultered marble and formica.used many different brands and types of coatings for bathtubs but never any off the store shelf junk, takes to long to put back in service and epoxies will yellow in time.midwest chemicals has a very easy to use system 1-1 acrylic aliphatic polyurethane dries quick, use tub next day.I spray using a hvlp turbine system, all my refinishing jobs come out awesome. so easy to use a cave man can do it.

dude your not listening, midwest chemicals they have a web page with everything you need to know.tell them you are getting into the business of tub refinishing and they will give you a free sample.enough to do a couple of tubs.there are other companies that will also give you free samples too,but I like the 1-1 mix so easy to use a cave man can do it.use your gun with the larger cup takes less than 24 oz for for inside a clawfoot tub.air brush can be used but use the other.

airless will work but i would not use it unless you have a big project and need to spray gallons on walls.for tubs with tile walls the most paint you will use is 32-42 oz.to much hassel and waste of material to use airless even if you just use 2-3 5' whips for paint line.you can pick up a cheap hvlp turbine for 100.00 bucks and get as good a finish as a 1000.00 system. so easy to do a cave man can do it.

Do you use their primer first or just the coating itself. I have a devilbiss with a 1.5 tip. Will this spray it good enough?

It depends on the substrate and condition it is in.I clean 100% entire area to be coated. all soap scum and silocone/caulking must be removed,if the tile or porcelain is in good condition i will use a wipe on primer only and 2-3 coats of top coat.if the substrate is in bad condition i will prime with epoxy and 10-15 minutes later top coat 2-3 coats.i do not prime formica cultered marble or fiberglass surfaces, clean scuff/sand and 2-3 coats top coat.
1.5 should work fine just add a little mek to thin it out a little.i use 2.0.
