Airless Sprayers

I've been looking for a fairly inexpensive airless for occasional use.

A local Home Depot is selling a few of their Airlessco sprayers (LP540) for about 1/2 of the online prices of new machines.

How would you compare Airlessco to Graco machines? Their website touts "low speed pistons" and externally adjustable packings. Sounds good, anyway.

I'm prejudiced against Spraytech and Titan just because anything Wagner I've owned has turned out to be junk. (I know, not a fair judgement).

Thanks for the help...

Gary

Re: Airless Sprayers

My experience with the Home Depot route is that they work, for awhile. After storage for any length of time, my X5's didn't work, even with the additive. $75 bucks for a new packing/piston brought total to $450. I bought a new Graco 395 for not much more than that and it always works.

Re: Airless Sprayers

This topic comes up once in awhile. Take a few things into consideration when buying a sprayer. You don't want to buy too much sprayer, but you dont want to short change yourself either. If you do occasional spraying I would look at a Graco 390, Graco 395, Titan 440i, Titan 540i, or Spraytech 419. It is tempting to buy the cheaper units at Home Depot or online. What happens when something breaks down (it probably will) ? You are on your own in repairing it. If you take it into a paint store to have fixed, it will probably go to the very, very end of the list since you didnt buy it there. If you buy it from a paint store that repairs them, they will give you the service you need more quickly and do the warranty paperwork. Buying online is very iffy. You can get lucky once in awhile. Still it will be a problem for warranty. You can buy a Titan 440i for $699.00-$775.00. The couple hundred bucks you spend on this compared to a Home Depot special is worth it. The machine will be MUCH better than the ones in Home Depot plus you can get the service and warranty work from a paint store. Last of all, please tell me, You don't buy your paint at home depot also.

Re: Airless Sprayers

i would recommend buying a titan 440i, or a graco 390, or a graco 395. If you go to a paint store that has a service repair shop you can offen find a rebuilt for a good price.
I would definetly stay away from the big box stores, you get scaled down products with terrible customer service.

Re: Airless Sprayers

We buy all our sprayers from Sherwin Williams repair shop. They rent them for sometimes only 1 job the turn around and sell them to us at cost. I also would choose gracco, titan 440i, or speedflow.

Anything you buy from Home Depot is junk! Lets face it, No self respecting Paint contractor uses their products except for the occasional specialty product.

I'd personally go with a Spraytech, Graco or Titan, all are worthy and they'll run you about $1000- $1200.00 for their bare minimum rig set up correctly.

FYI I'm a factory certified repair tech in all makes of airless equipment Honda & Briggs & Stratton small engines to boot.
