Question

Airless, Long Term Storage

Just purchased my first paint pump, Titan 440i. Used brushes and rollers prior to the purchase. I'm a neophyte at using the pump and have a number of questions about technique. However my primary concern is long(er) term storage. I'm retired and travel in my Motorhome, do projects on the road.

I'm planning on only pumping latex!

The sales person told me the following. For longer term storage run about a quart of paint thinner with 10 to 15 drops of 3 in 1 oil through the pump in the prime position.

For short term, several days, nothing is required. For 1 or 2 weeks, use the product supplied with the pump, an additive mixed with water.

So what do the pro's say? Appreciate any inputs.

Tnx

Joe

I would agree with the above. Not to much to add.

I'd be interested to hear how you travel and work. That is something hubby and I haved dreamed of. We plan on a toy hauler type fifth wheel with the painting equipment in back. Travel, Paint and Golf!
How hard is it to drum up business in new areas? Thanks

Re: Airless, Long Term Storage

We retired in 2001, I consulted for about a year, Electrical Engineer. My wife was in Real Estate in CA and We lived in the So Cal mountains. We got a lot of experience rebuilding our cabin and helping friends with theirs.

We live full time in a 36' motorhime and carry enough tools with us to build a house. We find friends and friends of friends that need work done. We do most remodeling stuff, construction, electrical, etc. Try to keep our project size to under a month. Also work with Habitiat for Humanity. MH doesn't have slides so we are able to carry all of our tools in the basment storage.

Just completed a shed/carport on our place in Tucson, first time using an airless, did OK but I need more practice. We've met a few people that work "on the road". We love the traveling and meeting folks.
