Air Compressor or Turbine for HVLP?

I have been looking at the Capspray Magnum II gun w/cup and am wondering if I could save money by using my existing air compressor rather than buying the Spraytech turbine unit which is usually sold with it. Is there an advantage one way or the other?

It depends what you are using it for.
IMHO the turbine route is the way to go. It lays the material on better than an air assisted sprayer, especially for lacquers and eurethane's.

If you want to use a compressor, buy a conversion HVLP gun. I recommend the turbine / gun matched unit.

By conversion, do you mean a normal HVLP gun with an added pressure regulator?

No, coversion means it is an HVLP gun designed to be used with a compressor, not a turbine. Compressor supply LVHP air which must be converted to HVLP air.
