Acrylic Primer Exterior
Your opinions on the best primer [acrylic] for an exterior, substrate is red cedar [don't scream oil just yet] that has been finished with a {so the owner tells me} an acrylic primer and two top coats. I see no evidence of bleed through, however there are darker spots where the stainless steel nails are.
Against my advice he insists on everything receiving a primer coat before finish coats. I'll be contacting California and Western Red Cedar Assoc. for their opinions also. [Ya didn't think I'd trust you alone ]

Re: Acrylic Primer Exterior
I agree with slick why not just spot prime with the oil where the nail heads are bleeding (XIM or coverstain)? Do I understand you right in that the homeowner wants the entire job to be primed in addition to the problem areas? Seems like overkill but if this is the case I would use Zinssers 123 for an acrylic primer.

Re: Acrylic Primer Exterior
Thanks for the info on the nails, agree its overkill. Have a "I know better than you" customer. Building a consensus before I commit.
The voices in my head are starting to whisper walk away!!
