15,000 Sq Ft Job...need Some Bidding Help

I need help with this estimate. It's a 15,000 sq ft building. Brand new drywall, 40ft ceilings, no trim. It is going to be a gym. Im going to spray it. Please let me know what some of you pros would charge. Thanks.

$4.00 per sq ft should cover it.

Re: 15,000 Sq Ft Job...need Some Bidding Help

Is the floor plan 15,000sf or is that the total wall space you are painting?

EDIT - Ooops.. I read the post better and see it's a 15,000sf bldg. At first I saw 15,000sf job.

Will there be offices or other rooms or just the main auditorium walls? Is it 40' high all the way around or is there a pitched roof with the peak being 40'?

It's a brand new building. This friend of mine is going to make the bldg into a gym. The floors are not finished and it doesn't matter about the floor because after the painting is done he will be putting down this rubber like padding. It will run me around $600.00 for the scissor lift and around $1,000.00 for the paint. The whole building is 40ft ceiling. Looks like a perfect square. There are a couple of offices but thats what my helpers will be doing. Thanks again.

Shawn...ceilings?

the reason I ask is cause I've seen some really complex metal beam systems in some auditoriums...

I'll toss you a number - $1.50 / sq ft of wall paint.
That's one coat primer, two coats paint (sprayed)

no trim or ceiling

sounds like a 3 day job with one guy in a scissor lift

Re: 15,000 Sq Ft Job...need Some Bidding Help

Let me give you some advice about the material number you've figured up. If it's raw/bare concrete, it'll suck up paint at an unbelievable rate. I painted a five thousand square foot building that wasn't nearly as tall and it sucked up well over one thousand dollars of paint.

Of course I had to put three coats of paint on the walls, that's what the GC speced and quite honestly it needed the third coat. I'd say you'll have in the neighborhood of 4-5 thousand dollars worth of paint on this job. That's if the concrete is bare and you plan on making it look good. If you just plan on giving it one heavy coat and leaving it at that, it'll look like crapola and you'll still spend 1500 bucks.

Another thing, I don't see how you can could charge someone two dollars a foot on this thing. That would put the price at 30 grand for about 5 days worth of work. That wouldn't fly where I'm from.
