Tap rule

I have tried to understand this portion of the NEC but am still confused.

Residential remodel.

40/50 amp circuit to existing range.

New kitchen design calls for seperate single oven and cooktop.

Can I tap off the 50 amp circuit to power the two new appliances?

If so, can I use #10's?

If so, can it be NM?

Someone told me yes, but it had to be in conduit. I didn't get a firm confirmation from him.

Anybody else?

Yes you can tap the 50A to power the cook top and range as long as they follow 210.19(A)(3)Exception No. 1.

I'm not sure that answers the question....where is the confusion?

I believe that did answer my question.

I guess I was confused on the definition of tap conductors.

Thanks.
