pretty interesting how they get white light from an led, aren't the typical colors red yellow and green(depending on the doping)? Then to get blue led's it's actually 2 of different colors in the same package and feed it alternating current. Probably have my colors wrong, but think it's interesting how they work. And don't even get me going on photons and where they come from just kidding, just feeling like a geek for the moment

Re: Nec 410.8
I have about six flashlights with LEDs. All very white light. All very low battery consumption. ALL very expensive.

Re: Nec 410.8
I have a AA Maglite conversion and it is about as bright as a regular bulb. I could not imagine a conversion (if it were available) for let's say a 3D cell Mag would be near as bright as a halogen.
I have three 3D cell Mags, all with halogen replacement lamps. REAL bright, but battery life sucks! The LEDs I have are all multi-LED. Very bright, but not long distance bright like the 3D cell halogens. Great for close range use like crawl spaces and dark basement & attic corners. Yes, I am a flashlight GEEK!

I like Pelicans, along with Streamlight. I have yet to get a Surefire, but I will get one soon.

Re: Nec 410.8
For the time being(unless I choose to carry two mini mags) I'll stick with my halogen, and my LED Petzl head lamp does very well for those close situations.

Re: Nec 410.8
My local small town hardware store carries both. They are an Ace franchise.

But I'll have to stop at the Ace soon. Went to the HD for some gloves a week ago, first time there since buying sprinkler parts last spring. I tried on the right hand and bought them, brought them home and tore out the 'staple' and the left hand pinky finger was 3/4 inch long. I still have yet to take them back. God I hate that store
