Is this a common thing to do? Especially since as Lucky said, you are coming on a public message board and asking.
I would NEVER rent my license.
Also, this should be in the "General Electrical" section. Not the NEC section.

I might be wrong but Class A is a construction license in VA so it must be a project with more than electrical work

Wanted: Lawyer to allow me to use thier bar exam results so I can defend someone in court.
Needed: Surgeon to allow me to use his/her medical license so I can perform operations on others.
Looking: I want to fly to my destination on my next vacation, but I don't want to buy a ticket on an airline. Is there a pilot out there willing to allow me to use their license?
Attention Gun Owners: I want to carry a pistol under my shirt, but I don't want to get a CCW permit. Can anyone help me?
BTW, I lost my drivers' license. Well, I didn't lose it in the sense I don't know where it is, but suffice it to say I can't legally drive. Can I borrow anyone's DL so I can drive to work and back?

Why are you asking for someone to pull permits if you "got your class A license?" Just do it yourself!

last i checked you would get a felony and the other guy could get a felony for aiding and abetting an unlicensed out of state contractor, but hey no guts no glory!

Class A contractor's license in Virginia allows one to do any size jobs. Classification is what designates what can be done. BLD is building. Trades, as far as I know, still need a contractor's license.
Only a fool would let someone else use his license and assume all the liability, especially for electrical. If you have work in Virginia and can't pull the permit, sub to a company that can, then get paid, then go home.
