70E FRC-AFRC Clothing

Several of the facilities that we work in have implemented the 70E clothing and equipment.
The one thing I have noticed is that the programs vary from place to place, it makes it tough to keep up with all this required PPE. Any one else seeing this as a problem? We have one customer that insists we wear 70E FRC-AFRC, Faceshield, HV Gloves w/ liners, and nomex sleeves when changing contacts on a NEMA size 1 starter, even when the MCC is locked out.(and the bucket is racked out!) This is too extreme! Try to explain this to their accounting so you can bill the extra time.

Extreme? It's a joke.

You can blame your friendly neighborhood lawyers and insurance companies for all this.

Don't explain, just put a line in to the effect, "Facility-required PPE deployment fee authorized by x________________ $***.XX"

Have the nitwit that asked you to suit up sign the dotted line. If he says you gotta get dressed up to dance on his floor, he can explain why the piper charges so much.

That would be funny if it weren't so stupid. Charge them is all I can think of. I work in one facility that wants full PPE when we take the dead front off a live 480/277 panel or work around the switch gear with the covers off. No one else has even brought it up.
