They are not required in Wisconsin. Yet. We'll see what happens with the 2008 code.

Re: 2008 NEC Proposed Changes

For several years now if I run a multiwire, or a 240 v branch with solid wire, I chuck the ends of my hots into my cordless drill, set to slow speed, and give it a bit of a whirl. The two or three hot wires are now pretty much easy to spot as grouped together.

Our local inspec. said it's a go. Which is great like shunk said. I'll go from 20AFCI service calls to probably 60+ yr I'm guessing. Now telling people to get rid of ceiling fans and old clock radios will be the hard job. Got out of new construction 2yrs ago since you can't make much on it anymore. Speedy..nothing wrong with way you do your stuff.

I agree with tagging neutrals in a network. God forbid you remove the wrong one. I've been hit on an open neutral and people, it hurts real bad. Simple answer? Brady tags.

Re: 2008 NEC Proposed Changes

I've always heard people say getting hit with a neutral feels worse than a hot and I don't know why. I've been shocked with hots(even intentionally), and neutrals numerous times and 277 3 times, and really didn't notice a difference between any.
Mathematically the neutral would be less of a shock.

On a different note; has anyone used or looked thru the '08 code yet? I don't like it, the changes are highlighted in grey making it even more difficult on your eyes.

I bumped into a 480v 3phase hanging from a ceiling in a mechanical loft today in the dark (flashlight for light), man did that tingle, hit me right in the side of the neck.

You've had problems with fans on AFCI circuits?
