I tried to PM ya. But, I think you need 20 post's or so before you can get any or check your settings.
This is what I got when I tried: GunitePoolGuy has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her.
Any help would be Great! I did put some Spot Out by Sun Coast in yesterday and brushed it today w/ no results. Thanks, Paul

No need to discuss through pm's. This is an open forum which is what makes it great.
My first glance:
Rust Stains? But it is on the pool decking as well, so that would have to rule that out. Weird.

These stains can be tested to narrow down what they are composed of and thus what treatment will remove them. Find a certified stain specialist from your area from a company called Jack's Magic. We have used their products with success.

I guess i need more posts. Its one of 2 things. Either decaying leaves or rust. Rust is due to the steel being too close to the surface. If you dont want to drain it you can try this: Go get a 10ft 2-3in PVC pipe and stick it directly over the stain. Then pour in some liquid chlorine or bleach. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. Or, and Ive never tried this, you can go buy a grinding stone and try to grind it out. But there is a reason ive never tried that. If that dosent work your last resort would be to drain it and power/acid wash it.

Oh, and thats a very nice pool you have there. What kind of plaster finish is that? Diamond Brite? And is that a colored concrete coping?

Thanks. But I really don't think it's leaves. No trees other than palm trees. And the stains on the deck lead me to beleive that it's not rust.

I think the autorities should be called on this one. It is blood and a lot of it. Not sure how to get it out, but I would be more worried about what type of accident and/or crime occured on my property if I was you.
Looks like the victim fell into the pool and smeared blood on the sides and bottom also.

seriously though based on the picture, the patio looks like something exploded on it, some kind of drink maybe? Have you talked to your kids? Have you been out of town recently?

I think it looks like rust.
Iron fertilizer pellets will do that. Not likely an oil thing because oil wouldn't settle to the bottom of the pool. Iron fertilizer pellets will.
Could be from Ironite, could be just the iron pellets in regular fertilizer. The rest of the stuff would just melt and disappear.

Ding Ding Ding!!!!!!!!!! I think you got it. I fertilized my palms w/ some maganese/sulfate.(I'll have to check for exact) I have rather rambunksous 10 month old puppy that could have kicked up some of that onto my deck and in the pool. So now how do I get rid of it? (not the dog)
