Electricity is not something to be feared...it is to be respected.

If you fear it, hire someone who respects it.

If you have fear and respect confused - hire someone.

What type of pool?

If it's an above ground...install an inground.

If it's an inground do like dirt suggested in the other thread..."drain it" or just remove the screw holding it in the wall pull up to the coping and change the bulb & gasket.

Good luck.

Don't fear - I respect electricity

Pools below ground, I have never seen the inner workings of the lights and was not sure how the fixture was sealed to be protected from water.

It's cold hear right now, daytime high of 65F, I'll get brave one of these days and climb in and change it out, just wasn't sure how it was connected/sealed.

Gaskets and/or "O" rings and set screws/threaded lense component would be my guess...

1. concrete or liner pool,
if liner do not remove gasket plate!!!!!! not shown in diagram.

2. I always just replace the whole assembly from jbox to pool. note, if a big AB booger is in conduit, you will have to chip it out to remove assembly.
(i opt to drill a hole in an expansion plug and pull it down cord to seal conduit. assuming conduit is not in great shape.)

- if you just opt to replace bulb, reassemble the unit & sink it in pool & watch for air bubble, indicative of gasket leaks.

- do not tuurn light on outside of water, they are water cooled.
